The Wildlife Society and WESSA to co-host 2012 International Wildlife Management Congress

Since 1926, WESSA has been working together with SANParks and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife to further the aims of wildlife management and protection through collaborative partnerships that have seen milestones such as the successful establishment of the Addo Elephant Park, the proclamation of the Mountain Zebra Park after eight years of petitioning by WESSA, the prevention of coastal dune mining on our Eastern shores and the halting of the proposed mining of coking coal in the Kruger National Park.

The theme for this year’s IV International Wildlife Management Congress is ‘Cooperative Wildlife Management across Borders: Learning in the Face of Change.’ The scientific programme will include keynote addresses from leading wildlife conservation and management experts, panel discussions on critical issues such as Africa’s rhino crisis and other illegal trade concerns across the world. In addition, there will be an exhibition component where delegates can network with like-minded professionals from other countries.
