Prominent Paints joins Cheese Kids to transform schools and orphanages

Published: 6 August 2012

For some, Mandela Day 2012 has come and gone, but for Prominent Paints and Cheese Kids things are only just getting started.

To honour the Father of the Nation’s service to humanity, the coatings company joined forces with Cheese Kids – a broad-based volunteer movement - to inspire South Africa’s biggest volunteer drive to date. Hosted on Sunday, 29 July, the drive mobilised young socially-active South Africans to do good in their communities.

With a generous donation of 1 250 litres of paint, Prominent Paints equipped the movement with the tools to transform schools and orphanages in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. The day attracted over 5 000 volunteers from all sectors of society and over 20 000 lives were touched through the Prominent Paint’s sponsorship.

Prominent Paints spokesperson, Lynette Jackson, said: “As a company we feel strongly about being a sustainable contributor to the development of the community, and this is one such opportunity that we can deliver on this credo. It was a privilege to work with Cheese Kids; we share a common focus of incorporating community service and social consciousness into our daily lives. We trust that our efforts will inspire other South Africans to stand up and do great things together.”
