Epic Communications wins the Cape Media Corporation account

Published: 6 July 2012

Cape Media Corporation (Cape Media), South Africa's leading publisher of specialist business-to-business magazines, has engaged the services of national strategic communications and PR agency, Epic Communications, to oversee media relations and social media activities for its 2012/13 campaign.

“As a publishing house, we interact with many PR agencies on a daily basis and are therefore aware of the necessary skills set our PR agency should possess. Epic Communications was the natural choice due to their level of knowledge of the multiple industries that we engage with. We are also especially excited to make use of their social media expertise to enhance the offerings of our specialised events department,” says Robert Arendse, managing director of Cape Media Corporation.

Gavin Etheridge, director of Epic Communications: Cape Town, says, “We are excited to add a multi-angle client such as Cape Media to our growing portfolio. The company is behind many of South Africa’s leading corporate titles and has also created many prestigious event platforms for the public and private sectors such as the Black Business Quarterly Awards and the Skills Development Summit. We look forward to showcasing Cape Media’s intellectual capital across traditional and new media channels, as the company continues to evolve.”

Cape Media Corporation has grown considerably over the last 10 years with numerous exciting developments. This includes the recent 50% acquisition in Contact Media and Communications in Johannesburg, as well as the launch of a new title, Mining Prospectus, and the expansion of their on-line offerings, such as the Leadership Intelligence Bulletin and Hayibo.com.

The company has also recorded considerable growth via its specialised events department, Cape Media Events, which recently successfully staged the flagship investment conference for the City of Tshwane, TITIIC.

“Having established ourselves firmly over the past 10 years we are now looking forward to further new developments, such as the multi-media marketplace and adding additional new titles to our stable. We firmly believe that Epic Communications will assist us with the opportunities to influence new audiences as we continue to grow,” concludes Arendse.
