Celebrating horseracing, grandeur, glamour and a greener South Africa the sculpture was installed outside paddock at the racecourse and will be exhbited for the duration of the Vodacom Durban July.

The sculpture, which was created by an eight man design team at Oaktree Studios took over two months to produce using more than 1500 discarded cellpones sourced from Vodacom stores. The sculpture will be iilluminated by solar powered lights at night. Taking a full day to install on site the sculpture will move to the Vodacom World in Midrand after the Vodacom Durban July.

Enzo Scarcella, managing executive for marketing, Vodacom SA says: “The installation is inspired by this year’s Vodacom Durban July theme 'A material world' which encourages us to consider the impact our actions have on the world. This installation serves as a reminder that when you ‘reduce, reuse, recycle…’ the results can be powerful.”

The sculpture will be located outside the Main Vodacom Marquee and guests are encouraged to come and admire the giant horse.
