The book was compiled by Leigh Meinert, managing director of (TSiBA) - a non-profit higher education institution. Through working closely with the youth and being aware of their potential, Leigh wanted to challenge the belief that there is a leadership crisis by looking at the emerging leaders of the next generation.
“TSiBA seeks to produce entrepreneurial leaders who will ignite social change through the transfer of knowledge and skills,” says Linda Brash, brand manager at TSiBA, placed at the NPO through the Vodacom Change the World initiative. “It is through this work that Leigh and her colleagues believe that South Africa can produce educated and ethical leaders who are deeply committed to our country.”
Leigh and her team set out to interview thought leaders who have committed themselves to nurturing our country’s next generation. They interviewed politicians, business people, activists, social entrepreneurs, university vice-chancellors and high school principals. Some were well-known names like Jonathan Jansen and Ferial Haffajee, but others were ordinary South Africans. “What we discovered was that these were thought-and-action leaders. Many did not see themselves as leaders, but simply saw a need and addressed it,” says Meinert.
Perspectives: The Search for Tomorrow’s Leaders reveals that leaders are the people who are willing to take action to address the challenges that they see around them. It is available at a cost of R150 and all proceeds will go towards TSiBA to help educate South Africa’s future leaders. To order the book, email
