Published: 18 June 2012

It’s all about ‘Inspired Living’ at the 2012 East Coast Radio House and Garden Show on at the Durban Exhibition Centre from 29 June until 8 July.

2012 East Coast Radio House and Garden Show promises much
Show organisers have pulled out all the stops this year, with total prizes valued at over R500 000, up for grabs at the Show. You can win anything from a Samsung prize ‘every hour, every day’ including flat-screen TVs, to plants and gardening must-haves to the value of R20 000 daily courtesy of The Gardener magazine. You can also walk away with a designer kitchen valued at R110 000, by Kitchen Studio including appliances from Defy.

A new feature this year is the ‘Celebrity/Demo Kitchen’ where popular East Coast Radio jocks, Damon Beard, Jane Linley-Thomas, Darren Maule, Deon Govender, Peter G, and Makhosi Khosa will convince local restaurant chefs to part with their trade secrets while cooking. Meanwhile, Swiss national, Markus Bänziger, will be sharing his top cooking tips with show goers from his years of global culinary experience.

Making its debut in 2011 and featuring TV personality Tanya Visser, The Garden Pavilion is back by popular demand. This year, they will host a Mad Hatters Tea Garden serving tea, coffee and eats. TV personality and garden expert, Tanya Visser will answer your gardening questions daily from 11:00 to 14:00. Get inspired by eight landscaped gardens on display including plants, Bonsai, furniture, veggie units, orchids, design and much more, plus a chance to win plants and gardening must-haves worth R20 000 daily.

Good old-fashioned crafts and games will be the order of the day at the exciting Kidz Zone this year. Parents can enjoy a stress-free time at KwaZulu-Natal’s largest home and lifestyle show knowing that their kids are safe and sound at the Kidz Zone, which will be situated on the upstairs level, and which promises to be an interactive experience for children from four years and over.

"The theme is 'Good Old Happy Days' and with that in mind we will only be concentrating on playing games, having craft time, playing dress-up with photo shoots, music and drama," says Tina B Wither from Bee Line, who will be coordinating the event together with creative catalysts, Jane Linley-Thomas and award-winning performer, Shelley McLean.

New exhibitors to look out for include Chemspec Paints, Sutherlands Furniture and a special silent auction by Dales Auctioneers.
