A MAZE. Interact Festival is coming to Johannesburg

Published: 15 June 2012

The A MAZE. Interact Festival is set to take place in Johannesburg from From August 28 to September 2.

A MAZE. Interact is a multimedia and gaming festival that combines workshops, a conference, exhibitions, performances, street games and music on an international level. The festival is a public platform for sharing ideas, providing enduring knowledge, creating lasting relations and building a solid base for an extended cultural exchange, enabling artists, musicians and indie game developers from the Sub-Saharan Africa to meet and face the international Gaming and Media Art scene.

Together with the Goethe Institute in Johannesburg, A MAZE. and local partners are creating an event that will feature artists such as Julian Oliver, Donna Kukama, Anthea Moys, Jussi Ängeslevä, Emeka Ogboh, and Danny Day.

“Johannesburg has this electrified inspiring energy in the air I experienced 15 years ago when I first came to Berlin. There are somehow touch-points between the two metropolises, which I want to work out together with local and international artists and create an imaginary bridge to connect both spots. I wish that we bring together a wide range of technology enthusiasts, games and art interested people to participate in the festival program, discuss local issues and foster future collaborations,” says festival director, Thorsten S. Wiedemann

A MAZE. is seeking curious, adventurous artists and indie game developers from the Sub-Saharan region and South Africa to participate in A MAZE. Interact 2012. Last call: 15 June. Please get directly in touch with Thorsten S. Wiedemann: thorsten@amaze-festival.de
