Hippo Communications, the media and public relations company that has built its reputation on integrity, delivery and quality service, is on the move – expanding its services and moving to new premises.
In existence for 12 years, the company offers a fully integrated traditional and new media service – negotiating media partnerships, providing copy and press releases with consistently high media uptake, planning and implementing comprehensive social media campaigns supplemented by video clip and podcast production – and conceptualising innovative promotions and events. It also offers comprehensive media training and strategy workshops.
“Our work is about experience and inspiration”, says Beryl Eichenberger, co-owner of Hippo, who is highly respected by journalists and editors across print, radio and TV for her knowledge of the media and promotions industry. Eichenberger was recently dubbed “The doyenne of PR in South Africa/Cape Town” by Mike Wills on Cape Talk/702.
“We value our reputation for delivering excellent service and exposure, at reasonable rates”, she says.
Lynne Smit, co-owner of Hippo Communications since 2011, is an acknowledged expert in the field of social media. She has a keen eye for the news angle, having worked in newspapers in South Africa and abroad, including the Financial Times in London. “The media landscape has changed and our relationships have broadened, but we still maintain our excellent relationships with traditional media as part of the integrated strategy we offer,” says Smit. Lynne also mentors science journalists across Africa for the World Federation of Science Journalists, is Secretary of the South African Science Journalists’ Association (Sasja) and on the Western Cape committee of the South African Freelancers Association (Safrea).
The Hippo Communications’ office has moved and is now conveniently located off the West Coast Road in Tableview, easily accessible from the Cape Town International airport, City and Winelands.
Some of Hippo Communications’ recent clients include Gourmet SA’s Table of Peace & Unity and Go Industry Dove Bid online property auctions. Regular clients include North West University, Kirstenbosch, Africa Genome Education Institute, The Grande Roche Hotel, Two Oceans Restaurant at Cape Point, Personal Finance and a variety of others in the lifestyle and property industries. Publishing Print Matters uses the company to promote a variety of books while social media training workshops for top corporates are being requested frequently.
Hippo also offers a unique service to conferences, including daily newspapers and effective media management.
