Some major matches lined up at the stadiums for April and May

Published: 17 April 2012

Stadium Management South Africa continues to hit the ground running in terms of hosting the majority of this country’s finest footballing matches. With 15 weeks of 2012 having past, SMSA has successfully managed over 30 soccer games as well as music concerts and church gatherings, and is fast gaining the reputation of the company that never sleeps.

The remainder of April as well as the whole of May will see a further eleven soccer matches hosted between SMSA’s four stadiums namely the Soccer City Complex, FNB Stadium; Orlando Stadium; Rand Stadium and Dobsonville Stadium. As the intensity of the league increases, some of the greatest football will be on display with soccer giants Kaizer Chiefs taking on SuperSport United (28 April) and then four days later set to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns.

Whoever thought that South Africa’s stadiums would not be fully utilized post the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup got it wrong as these four stadiums will play host to eight Premier Soccer League teams as well as four National First Division teams over the space of three weeks.

“2012 has treated us well as our commitment to the finer details seems to be paying off. Having concluded a deal with the Taxi Association we believe that transport is no longer the match day nemesis. Our happy hour which see’s beer sold inside the stadium cheaper than what is available through shebeen’s has proven to be another great hit,” says CEO of SMSA Jacques Grobbelaar.

Grobbelaar goes on to say how match day attendance’s are picking up, even if only slightly, “We introduced free snack packs which are handed out to those supporters arriving timeously to matches. Couple that with the fact that children under the age of 12 get in for free when accompanied by a ticket-baring adult, and we believe that we are making great strides into securing bums on seats.”

Parking tickets as well as match day tickets are available to all matches and can be purchased through Computicket. No spectator will be allowed into the stadiums unless they are in possession of a legitimate match day ticket.
