Euro RSCG raises hope for abandoned babies

Published: 7 December 2011

On Sunday, 27 November, Euro RSCG brushed up on their ball skills and participated in a 5-a-side soccer tournament at Old Parks in Johannesburg. The tournament was held to raise funds for Door of Hope Children’s Mission.

Euro RSCG raises hope for abandoned babies
Door of Hope Children’s Mission is an NGO that cares for the needs of abandoned, abused and orphaned children in South Africa. The Christian Mission provides a loving and stable environment where children have the opportunity to grow into people that have a positive effect in South Africa and the world.

The mission has three baby houses - two in Glenvista and one in Hillbrow. Two of the homes have the potential to take up to 12 babies at a time, and the main house in Glenvista is now a registered children’s home caring for up to 30 children at a time. Like many children’s homes they are in need of funds, especially around the festive season.

Two Euro RSCG teams took part in the soccer tournament, together with another team made up of Havas Sports and Entrainment. They scored a number of goals and enjoyed a warm day out at one of Johannesburg’s oldest sports clubs. Although they didn’t win they did manage to raise R6 000 towards the total R12 000 raised for the home. Other teams included Werksmans, Wild Vanilla Events and The Ridge School who all played their best in the fund-raising initiative.

“We all had great fun. It was a day of sportsmanship and camaraderie, where we also managed to raise much needed funds for Door of Hope Children’s Mission,” says Lynn Madeley, CEO of Euro RSCG.
