Marcus Brewster Publicity (MBP) has confirmed the appointment of Denise van Dyk as Account Executive in its Cape Town office. Van Dyk joins the firm’s commercial practice area with specific focus on consumer; lifestyle; and sports accounts.

Van Dyk has an Honours degree from UCT in Media Theory and Practice, as well as a BA Journalism Degree from the University of Pretoria, where she graduated second in Journalism and in the top 15% of the Humanities faculty. In addition to her academic qualifications, Van Dyk has been a DJ on Tuksfm; a correspondent for Kampus-Beeld; and performed fashion assistant duties at both Glamour and Cosmopolitan magazines. She was also a guest presenter on various shows for DSTV’s MK channel.

“After having joined MBP last year as an intern, we are delighted to recognise and grow Van Dyk’s potential in the firm with the invitation to join our full-time staff,” says MBP chairman, Marcus Brewster. “Denise’s credentials send an unambiguous message to the marketplace about the level of excellence; intelligence; and acumen required for advancement in the industry in general and at MBP in particular. In line with our ‘Best Staff, Best Clients, Best Brands’ mantra, Van Dyk is well on her way to a brilliant career in public relations, and we look forward to enabling her professional growth.”

In further staff news, Edward Mahlesela has been promoted to Senior Account Executive in the firm’s corporate practice area in Johannesburg, and Saadiyah Marks was promoted from Candidate PR to AE in the corporate practice area in Cape Town.

MBP is the winner of the 2010 FinWeek AdReview PR Consultancy of the Year.
