This is your weekly overview of what’s hot and happening in the communication industry. kicking off with the top story: Professor Ronel Rensburg CPRP, head of the department of marketing and communication at the University of Pretoria has been elected vice president of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA). Her academic experience at both a local and international level enhances the expertise of the PRISA Board. The overwhelming response to the call for nominations for a vice-president for the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) reflected the support of its senior practitioners South Africa’s only premium health, wellness and lifestyle event; Look & Feel Good Expo, has engaged Marcus Brewster Publicity (MBP) as its PR agency of record. Jenny Handley Promotions has been appointed to manage the PR campaign and opening event for Ernie Els’ new restaurant in Stellenbosch, The Big Easy. It has also secured the PR and brand strategy role for Footgear as it expands its retail operation in the Western Cape. Talk2Us has been appointed by BBG Technologies to manage all its strategic brand, PR and marketing activities. Talk2Us will also be responsible for the organisation’s publicity. Tourism specialists, Lise and Ian Manley of Manley Communications, have won the account to launch Relais Hotel’s latest venture, Harbour Bridge Hotel & Suites.
